The state is responsible for meeting the needs of those living below the breadline. At present the social support given by the state does not correspond to the basic wage.

The church always remains reliable, and is at times a unique haven for people who have fallen into difficult situations. Wars, natural disasters, unexpected illness, loss of documents, habitation problems, loss of relatives, it is impossible to foresee all the difficulties one person may meet on life’s way.

Throughout the year invalids, children-orphans, sick, needy old people on a regular basis receive basic food stuffs. Oats, flour, sugar, vegetable oil, macaroni products, fish, canned food, vegetables, and fruit are packed as grocery sets. They are delivered to houses requiring them by the help of the organization Russia Inland and the social services of the cities.

In nurseries and preschool establishments one child until the age of 7 is allocated about 1 dollar per day for a meal and, clothes; with a simple arithmetic calculation it is possible to see, that a children’s diet is very poor. With the allocated money in 1 day it is possible to buy: 1 package of milk, 1 long loaf of white bread, 10-20 grams of cheap sausage. For clothes, to save money through the year, children one after another wear clothes, and these are constantly under repair.

Children living in children’s establishments such as children’s home do not receive enough vitamins within their diet and thereof their immune system is weakened and they are they are more vulnerable to illnesses. The introduction of fruit and juice to their diet improves children’s health.
