May 20, Moscow, Lutheran Church - Holy Trinity Congregation

A working meeting was held by the doctor of the organization " Russia Inland " and a project group of the Lutheran church (10 people), that included 4 doctors from Saratov, Nizhni Novgorod, Ioshkar Ola, Moscow, experts on narcology and therapists, a minister, whose service is contacted  in prisons (Novosibirsk) and pastors of Lutheran church (Moscow, Saratov).

The working meeting was devoted to the social disease, caused by social, economic and sociopolitical conditions. Such diseases as  alcoholism, drug addiction, smoking, tuberculosis were discussed and in greater detail, HIV-infection.

Based on documents of the Federal centre of science-methodical on preventive maintenance and struggle against AIDS of Ministry of Health, statistical information concerning these diseases was presented. During the report quotes were presented from scriptures of Judaism, Christianity and  Islam on the different social issues.

As it was noted, the Church has responsibility before the government for a spiritually-moral condition of society.

The information of the report caused obvious interest during the discussion on the given theme.

Estimating results of the lead meeting it is necessary to note that the questions raised at the HIV conference " The Prospects for Cooperation between State, Religious and Public Organizations regarding the problems of HIV/AIDS in Russia" have sown seeds and have encouraged pastors of different Christian denominations in the necessity of carrying out of further work.

Our organization has prospects of work with different churches.

Resume: joint operational experience is necessary. Creation of a uniform information centre for definition of priorities in this work alsois necessary for the help in the organization of actions taken by Christian denominations. New communications with physicians of other denominations should be established.
