Children’s stories

It was the second group of the master class. On the pitch there were many children and some of them were from one of the orphanages of Vladimir. Suddenly one boy with big blue eyes came up to me. It was common that children ran to coaches and asked for autographs, so thinking that was the case I took out my pen to sign his diploma. But Misha (it was the boy’s name) just asked me: “Have you come here especially for me?” I didn’t know what to say. “But even my parents don’t visit me”.

“The team came here because they love you”.

“Do they love me so much they would give me a football?”

In one of the master classes there were two boys, Pasha and Igor, who had run from school to take part in this festival. During the master class one of their friends came and told them that they would have problems if they didn’t return immediately. Pasha’s reply to this was: “Are you kidding? This may happen once in a life-time!”

Volodya was from an orphanage and came to the pitch with a broken hand. I asked him if he could play football and was really surprised with his answer. He said: “It’s not a problem. I’ll try not to fall, but that’s not important. I would rather break my other hand than miss such an opportunity”. He also said it was the happiest day in his life – nobody before had told Volodya they love him. The boy’s eyes were shining with happiness.

Master Class Children 470, Including invalid

Distribution of diplomas, brochures, footballs and kits

"On the pitch, during the master class, I met Sasha (13) and Yura (10). They were not ordinary kids: Sasha was a midget and Yura had mental disabilities. They lived in an orphanage and none of their friends played either football nor other sports games with them. Waiting for their turn on the pitch, Sasha and Yura were put under the tent where the footballs were stored. They were very responsible and proud that they could count to 100. I asked them to help me with the footballs for other children: they needed to be counted and put into one place… Soon everything was ready. Their eyes were shining with happiness. Yura and Sasha also participated in the master class, and were so happy to play different games with other children that after the festival came to several team members and thanked us for that wonderful time and for all that kindness and attention of the coaches. They said that it was the best day in their lives and that this day will stay in their hearts for ever".

Children’s stories

It was a cold and rainy day. And yet there were many children on the pitch. There was a girl Lena (14) in my group with serious mental and physical disabilities. She came with her mother Ludmila. Lena was not able to do some of the exercises and yet she tried really hard to do them the best she could. She was smiling and laughing, and her mom told me she had never seen her so happy for a long time. Ludmila said that Lena spent most of her time at home, that she had no friends to play with her and that this festival met a lot to them both. It was the day they would long remember.

Christian Testimonies

Everywhere Arthur got a chance to share his testimony, he did his best to change kid’s view on drugs and alcohol. He helped them to make right decision about their lives.

Team members could feel God’s presence and support on every stage of the project.

Uniting fellowships have been great opportunities  to share the Christian testimonies not only to the kids, but to administration, coaches and other participants

I remember a child came to me and asked to sign his Diploma. He also left his orphanage address, so I could mail him my photo. He told me: “Everyone in my class has a father, and they beat me because they know that I’m alone. I will show them the picture, so they knew that I also have a person who protects and loves me.”
