Russia Summer Camp Report

“Anitas” Hotel, Alania, Turkey

June 21-2 July 2005

The very first camp in Turkey was held in June of 2005. It was held by “Russia Inland” organization and “SOAR Int” , USA. There were 60 people in the camp altogether including: 8 Americans, translators, organizers of the camp, children up to 12 years old, teenagers, and parents who helped a lot in the camp. Most of the children were from non-Christian families and were among Christians for the first time.

The main topic of the camp was “The wonderful promise” and the book “The wonderful promise” from the Bible league was used. Children learned the stories from the creation to the resurrection of Jesus in the bible classes, which were taught by Natasha Pan. Nine children accepted the Lord.

The bible classes in the group of teenagers were taught by Nadezhda Slovishenskaya. The main questions of Christianity were discussed during these classes. As a result, one young man began to attend a church, and one young lady decided to be baptized.

During the camp children learned over 10 bible verses, lots of new songs and took part in many funny games.

The children had the opportunity to spend 4-5 hours swimming in the pool and in the Mediterranean Sea, playing sport and games every day. The camp was situated by the sea coast. The sun, sea, fresh air, good food were beneficial for all.

The American team prepared an interesting handicraft program.

Nobody wanted to leave, when the time in camp was over. But everyone was encouraged by the hope to see each other again some day. We pray that it will be the beginning of a tradition to have camps in Turkey.
