From 14th – 21st of August 2005 the Ecumenical Youth Council in Europe (EYCE) is holding its Summer Training Course “Youth Fighting HIV/AIDS”. More than 30 participants from all across Europe and beyond will come together in Riga, Latvia to face the challenges, HIV/AIDS poses on youth in Europe today.  A representative from Russia Inland Jenifer Carson also is taking part in that event.

The training course is aimed at providing background knowledge on HIV/AIDS including all aspects, i.e. historical, medical, social and psychological aspects; at raising awareness and to find out what is going on regarding the reality of HIV/AIDS and at breaking down barriers, prejudices and discrimination and being inclusive in our practice. A central role will be to face pressing theological questions about the issue of HIV/AIDS and learn about Churches’ concrete response. Participants shall be enabled to find ways and means to empower the powerless through education, information and challenging Church and society.
